It’s not as good at handling deep discharge cycles, so it’s not ideal for cars that are used frequently or need lots of power. The Optima battery is a starting battery, meaning it’s designed to provide a quick burst of power when starting your car. The Odyssey battery can also handle high temperatures better than the Optima battery. It’s ideal for cars that are used frequently and need a lot of power, such as RVs and boats. The Odyssey battery is a deep cycle battery, meaning it’s designed to be discharged and recharged repeatedly. Both are great batteries, but which one is right for you? Here’s a comparison of the two batteries to help you make a decision. If you’re looking for a new battery for your car, you may be wondering whether to choose the Odyssey or Optima. However, if you need a battery that can handle more power draw without sacrificing performance, opt for an Optima battery instead. So, which battery is right for you? If you’re looking for the longest lasting battery possible, go with an Odyssey. And while they don’t have the same deep discharge capabilities as Odyssey batteries, they can still provide plenty of power for your car. Instead of thick plates, they use spiral wound cells that are less likely to break down under vibration or shock. Optima batteries are also built for durability, but they take a different approach. As a result, Odyssey batteries tend to last longer than other brands – up to three times as long in some cases. They’re also designed with thicker plates, which makes them more resistant to vibration and shock. Ultimately, the decision whether or not to buy an Odyssey battery depends on your budget and needs. These batteries offer superior performance and durability, but they come at a higher price tag. I bought the Odyssey for power in a small package, heavy duty for diesel vibration and knowing it won't spew acid out in the radiator and cooling coils. If you are considering an Odyssey battery for your car, it is important to do your research and compare prices before making a purchase. Odyssey cost more but is a heavier battery. The Odyssey can be pulled down dead and can be charged with a fast hot charge and won't harm the battery. Optima and Odyssey can be mounted in any position. It sits in front of the radiator and coolers so Odyssey solved that problem too. Battery that came in tractor started leaking around the post like most lead acid batteries do. Replaced a huge battery from Europe in my tractor. If you need to charge them you need a smart charger to do it right. I've never heard anything bad about Optimas, other than pound for pound, they aint cheap. I told our fleet manager at AT&T that if mine is any indication, within a year or two there are going to be a whole lot more of the same showing up. The issue was where it was mounted with no protection, and two Winters of road salt. Worse, the terminals on the battery were so corroded it couldn't be used either, so it had to be replaced. My first guess was that someone somewhere tried to steal it, but the cables were severely corroded green where they were broken off. The company had me take it into Goodyear to have it fixed, and when they raised it both the positive and negative cables were hanging. A couple of weeks ago I saw something hanging, it was the positive cable. They actually mounted it below the filler neck, so if you were standing off to the side, you could see about half of the Optima showing down below. The 2014 Chevy van has strobe lights since do line work along road sides, so someone installed a "supplemental" battery below it since was no more room under the hood. Wasn't the fault of the Optima, was the fault of where it was installed. Just had one replaced in the company van a week ago that was about a year old.
